Parents/Guardians of auditionees – terms of casting: Please note that these shows are professional productions and the young people will be expected to behave as such. They must be available for all rehearsal dates and prioritise this project. Duckegg membership must be upheld. Each cast will be expected to perform approx 9 days. There will be occasions where school time will need to be missed and in such cases we will need your support in releasing them from school. Each child will need a performance license; again we will need your support with providing the correct documentation and working with the local council.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent for their run in London (one week). No accommodation will be provided but we can help you find accommodation to suit all budgets. It might be that we rent a duckegg flat and split the cost.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a professional show in the West End and with some amazing actors. Before applying please consider whether you have the stamina to be in a professional theatre environment. There is a lot of travelling, a lot of pressure, expectation and obviously missing some school will be unavoidable.
CHARACTERS TO BE CAST
Brian – playing age (not your real age!) of 10-13 years old. He is in a children’s home after WW2, not knowing if his parents are dead or alive. He makes up elaborate stories about what he remembers about his parents. Quiet and edgy, he is an acquired taste.
George – playing age of 10-15 years old. He is jolly to the core and life struggles to shake him. He is the glue between Brian and Gladys.
Gladys – playing age of 10-15 years old. She is bookish and thinks she is a woman in the body of a child. She is not. In reality she is in great need of a mother.
Auditions will take place on Sunday 12th April.
